MyByzantine Blog 2014 in review

Thank you for your continued support in 2014. I was busy with many other projects but have some interesting material in the archives so hope to post more in 2015. A Happy New Year to you all.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys have prepared a 2014 annual report which you may find amusing.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 47,000 times in 2014. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 17 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Happy New Year. However I am disappointed that you have never noted my two fictionalizedbiographies. They are of the emperor Constantine VI who was blinded by his mom and of Antonina, the wife ofBelisarius. Both are accurate biographies so far as the facts oftheir lives are known though Count No Man Happy also containsa fantasy element. Antonina, A Byzantine Slut is actually adefense of this intelligent, brave, and liberated lady against theslanders of Procopius. Of course, the details of her and Belisarius’early lives are fiction since we know very little about them, but bythe end of the story I am largely referencing sympathetic historians. There are some excerpts on my web page, apuleiusbooks.com, as well asa Youtube interview about the books and an email interview that I had with the Byzantinist Bill Caraher. There is also a link to a modestYoutube video that I made about Byzantium and links to otherByzantine items on the internet including your My Byzantine Blog. Again, best wishes for the new year foryou and all of us interested in the late empire. Vince O’Reilly (AKA Paul Kastenellos) PS: I also maintain a minor presence onTwitter under my pen name, Paul Kastenellos. Mostly that consists ofretweets of images.
