The Byzantine Collection of the Dumbarton Oaks Museum in Washington DC claims to have one of the finest collections of portable, sumptuous objects in the world. Encompassing the imperial, ecclesiastical and secular realms, the collection holds about 1,200 objects as well as about 24,000 coins and lead seals. Selected objects from the Byzantine Collection are on exhibition is the Byzantine Gallery and Courtyard Gallery.
