Bettany Hughes – The Day Jesus Died

The Archbishop of Canterbury and Bettany Hughes

I had no plans to post today, nor to add more about Bettany so soon, but this programme first shown on Good Friday shows how good she is as a historian and documentary maker. Given a full one hour slot and the oportunity to develop her ideas you can see why she had so much success with her earlier work such as The Spartans. It is a shame some of her recent programmes have been time limited.

This examination of the meaning of Jesus’ death and why Good Friday is so important to Christians is compulsive viewing and I recommend it wholeheartedy. Available only until 7 April on BBC iPlayer
